
Thom Golub<- back to main bio pageThom Golub was educated in music by Graham Calder (Guitar) and Ioan Tetel (String Bass); he plays bass exclusively. He leads the Alterations Trios – a group of flexible line-up devoted to original and interesting music from Edmonton and elsewhere. His debut album “Eye of Jupiter” (2000) garnered a favorable review from David Lee in Coda magazine (Sept/Oct 2001). David Lee picked “Eye of Jupiter” as one of his top ten recordings for 2001 (Dec 2001). Thom’s solo Bass trilogy, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” (2001) had positive feedback from the Edmonton community and both recordings received airplay on CBC Radio 1, CKUA, and CJSR. In 2001, Thom co-founded The Improvised Network [T.I.N.] with Guitarist, Lane Arndt, Saxophonist, Dave Hoyle and Trumpeter, Eric Weiden. T.I.N. hosts weekly performances of improvised creative music with guests each week. Each week’s performance is recorded direct to CD and distributed by the members of T.I.N. This non-profit group has over 100 titles in his catalogue to date. Thom has performed at the Winnipeg and Calgary Fold music festivals, the Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver Jazz Festivals, the North and South Country Fairs, the Edmonton and Lethbridge Blues Festivals, Next Fest and helped organize the 2001 TINfest.
